Care and maintenance of contact lenses

Among the contact lenses, except for the special daily disposables that do not require care, other contact lenses must be treated and maintained. This is a step that the wearer must learn. Since the lens will deposit protein from the moment it is put on, for the life of the lens and the health of the eyes, it is necessary to pay attention to the care and maintenance of the contact lens. So, what should we do?

When it comes to the care of contact lenses, we have to mention the necessary complementary products that play an important role in the process of cleaning and preserving the lenses-care solutions and double boxes. When buying contact lenses, these need to be purchased together. The care solution and the double box should be cleaned and disinfected frequently when in use, and should not be placed in a humid environment such as toilets and bathrooms, and should be replaced every three months.

If the cleaning is not complete, the precipitation will gradually accumulate, which will affect the comfort of wearing and the oxygen permeability of the lens, resulting in hypoxia of the cornea, foreign body sensation, and so on. Excessive cleaning will shorten the service life of the lens and cause damage to the lens. The common cleaning method is to drop an appropriate amount of care solution first, then gently scrub with your index finger, and store it in the double box after rinsing with the care solution.

For storing lenses, special care solutions must be used, and the care solutions here cannot be replaced with other liquids. Mineral water, normal saline, tap water, eye drops, etc. are not suitable for soaking or cleaning contact lenses, which can easily cause bacterial and viral contamination, and may also cause adverse irritation to the cornea.

When wearing contact lenses, you should pay attention to recording the opening date of the lens, strictly follow the steps in the instructions, and wear them during the life cycle.
